Oops... it's been a while since I've added something new :\ Well, let's look at one of my favorites then:
This was my last painting project of last semester. I probably could have executed it a little better, but I really enjoyed working with found wood objects to make up the canvas. They are all pieces that I found in the basement of the art building and range from just scrap wood to a piece of an old piano. Basically how I came up with the imagery for this piece is that I put my iPod on shuffle, and wrote down the lyrics from the first ten songs from 58 seconds to a minute and 8 seconds. It was pretty cool how it all worked out, because even though there's everything from a Christmas song to The Killers, it ended up writing a story. The lyrics are written out in the waves of the water and the rest is imagery I drew from the songs. Overall I'm really happy with this piece because it's so different from what I normally do. I am also considering expanding it by adding on more panels - maybe even making it an installation piece that would cover an entire wall... we'll see...
